As far as I know Locke didn't believe that government had no role, only that it's principal role could be described best by examining in his state of nature.

If one did, the classical Liberal would say that man if left on his own didn't need government. But it was precisely because some people cheated, committed crime, did injustice to other people that necessitated a government to protect people's "natural rights."

In other words I'm more of a Libertarian or "classical Liberal" than an anarchist.

You are an anarchist. Fair enough. But don't say that I "beg for the state's protection." That's just insulting.

I beg for the state to do what it should be there to do in the first place. Protect people's rights to property, expression, life and liberty and all that good classical liberal stuff.

If the state doesn't do that, then it's hard to see just what the government is there for in the first place.William Tellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14840575381956651912noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9578224.post-88356041173242590142007-02-22T13:42:00.000-05:002007-02-22T13:42:00.000-05:00My web-site, www.therightside.ca is an interview s...My web-site, www.therightside.ca is an interview site discussing topics such as this one.
